Kanji Dungeon Privacy Policy
QuickServe Inc. ("we", "us") sets out below how user information is handled in Kanji Dungeon (the "App"), our smartphone game (this "Policy").
1. Company information (data controller)
- Name: QuickServe Inc.
- Address: Sakurai Bldg. 2F, 2-8-19 Fukagawa, Koto-ku, Tokyo 135-0033, Japan
- Contact: info@91932.com / Tel. +81-3-6450-5141 (weekdays 10:00–19:00 JST)
- Personal data protection manager: Manager, Systems Development Department
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, QuickServe Inc. is the data controller for the App.
2. Scope and authoritative version
This Policy applies only to the App. Our other apps are covered by our common app privacy policy. This document is independent of the privacy policy on our corporate website. The Japanese version of this Policy is authoritative; if there is any discrepancy with a translation, the Japanese version prevails.
The browser-based web trial version does not include ads, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics or the online leaderboards.
3. Information the App stores on your device
The App can be used without creating an account, and we do not directly collect your name or similar information. The data below is stored only on your device and is never sent to our servers (except for OS backups).
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Records such as high scores and deepest floor reached (per difficulty) | Displaying your records |
| Settings such as the difficulty you chose | Keeping your settings |
| An interrupted run (the state needed to resume it) | Resuming the game |
| A record of when we asked you to review the App on the store | Avoiding asking too often |
Uninstalling the App removes this data from your device. However, copies stored by OS backup features (such as iCloud Backup or Google Backup) may persist in accordance with the settings and retention periods of the OS provider and may be restored when you reinstall.
The App has no text-entry features, and nothing you type is ever sent as an event.
4. Online leaderboards
The App has online leaderboards for competing on score. On iOS it uses Apple Game Center; on Android it uses Google Play Games services.
- Only while you are signed in to the respective service, your score is sent to Apple or Google when a run ends, together with your player ID at that company.
- The leaderboards show your player name (nickname) at that company, your score and your rank to other users.
- The information sent is handled by Apple or Google under their respective privacy policies. We do not separately store your player name or player ID.
- You can play the game without signing in (you just cannot take part in the leaderboards).
5. Information collected by third-party SDKs
The App uses the following third-party SDKs for advertising, usage analytics and quality improvement. These SDKs automatically collect the information below and send it to servers operated by Google LLC and its affiliates ("Google").
| SDK | Main information collected | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob (ad delivery: banner, full-screen and rewarded ads) | Advertising ID (IDFA on iOS / Advertising ID on Android — collected only where permitted by OS settings, applicable law and your consent), ad impression and interaction events, IP address (including inference of approximate location), device information (model, OS version, etc.) | Delivering ads, measuring their performance, preventing fraud |
| Firebase Analytics (usage analytics) | Identifiers such as the app instance ID, screen views, game-progress events such as run start (starting floor, difficulty), floor cleared (floor, remaining steps), game over (floor, score, reason), run completed (score, bonus, difficulty) and continuing after watching an ad, plus events for when a promotion for one of our other apps is shown or tapped, device and OS information, approximate region based on IP address | Improving the App through usage analysis * In regions where consent is required, not collected unless you consent (Section 8) |
| Firebase Crashlytics (crash reporting) | Crash logs, diagnostic and performance information, installation UUID, device and OS information | Diagnosing defects, improving quality |
The App has no text-entry features, and nothing you type is ever sent as an event.
If you contact us, we collect your contact details (such as name and email address), the content of your enquiry and, where necessary, device and OS information, for the purpose of responding. We delete this information after a reasonable period once your enquiry has been resolved.
6. Disclosure to third parties and external transmission
We do not provide collected information to third parties, except as required by law and for transmission to the external service providers (such as Google and Apple) described in this Policy.
Information sent through the SDKs in Section 5 is handled by Google under its own privacy policy. Depending on the processing, Google may act as an independent controller. Personalized advertising and cross-app tracking are carried out in accordance with applicable law and your consent status (iOS ATT, consent forms).
- Google Privacy Policy
- How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services
- Privacy and Security in Firebase
In place of a Google AdMob ad, the banner slot in the App may show a promotion for one of our other apps. Such a promotion displays information we have prepared (app name, description, icon and a link to the store). To measure effectiveness, when a promotion is shown or tapped it is recorded as a Firebase Analytics event described in Section 5 (including the ID of the promoted app); in regions where consent is required, only if you have consented.
To show these promotions, the App periodically retrieves the promotion information (app name, description and icon) from our website (qkserve.github.io, hosted on GitHub Pages operated by GitHub, Inc.). As with viewing any web page, connection information such as your IP address reaches GitHub's servers during this retrieval; we do not collect or store it, and the data described in Section 3 is never transmitted.
7. International data transfers
The destinations in Sections 4 and 5 include servers of Apple and Google located in the United States and other countries outside Japan. Google applies appropriate safeguards, including compliance with the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Details of the destinations and safeguards are available in "Privacy and Security in Firebase" above and in each company's privacy policy.
8. Managing consent and opting out
- iOS (ATT): You choose whether to allow tracking in the ATT dialog, and you can change it at any time under Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
- EEA, UK and other regions requiring consent: A consent form required by law is displayed. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time via the "Ad Privacy Settings" link at the bottom of the title screen (shown only in applicable regions). Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
- Usage analytics: In regions where consent is required, Firebase Analytics does not collect usage data unless you consent.
- Online leaderboards: If you sign out of Game Center / Google Play Games services, no further scores are sent.
- Additional OS settings: On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID in the OS settings (this is not the same as withdrawing consent).
9. Additional information for users in the EEA and the UK (GDPR / UK GDPR)
The legal bases for processing are as follows.
| Processing | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Storing and reading identifiers on your device (advertising ID, etc.) | Consent |
| Delivering personalized ads | Consent |
| Delivering ads without consent (limited ads) and preventing fraud | Legitimate interests (sustaining the free App, security) |
| Usage analysis (Firebase Analytics) | Consent |
| Crash reporting (Crashlytics) | Legitimate interests (maintaining quality on a data-minimizing basis) |
| Sending scores to the leaderboards (Game Center / Google Play Games services) | Performance of a contract (providing the leaderboard feature you requested) |
| Complying with legal obligations | Legal obligation |
- Retention: Data on your device is retained until you delete it (uninstall the App). For data collected by Google, see Privacy and Security in Firebase and the Google advertising policies. Leaderboard data is retained under the policies of Apple and Google. Retention of enquiry information is described in Section 5.
- Your rights: You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection and data portability. Requests are accepted at the contact point in Section 12. Firebase data is linked only to a per-installation ID and we cannot identify you from it, so we may be unable to locate data relating to you individually. Even then, you can stop further collection by withdrawing your consent via "Ad Privacy Settings" in the App (in applicable regions).
- Complaints: You have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority in your country.
- Voluntary provision: Providing information is neither a contractual nor a statutory requirement, and the App remains usable if you do not (the ads shown may be affected).
- Automated decision-making: We do not carry out automated decision-making, including profiling, that produces legal effects.
10. Users in other regions
Depending on the laws of your region, you may have rights such as access, deletion and opt-out. Requests to exercise these rights are accepted at the contact point in Section 12.
11. Children
The App is not designed for children.
12. Requests for disclosure and contact point
Requests for disclosure, correction or suspension of use of retained personal data, and enquiries about this Policy, are accepted at the contact point below. We may ask for documentation to verify your identity. There is no fee.
